About Us

Founded in 1951, The Robert Glenn Rapp Foundation is a private, family foundation established in Oklahoma.

Our purpose is to support charitable organizations in the United States, both large & small, with a preference on education & the state of Oklahoma.

Our mission is to provide resources to  Religious, Charitable, Scientific, Literary & Educational organizations & programs that traditional philanthropic sources might avoid.

Binger Well

Robert Glenn "Bob" Rapp was born in 1887.  Upon graduation from high school, he worked numerous jobs, ultimately landing in the oil and gas industry.  Bob learned many positions on the drilling rig, including the responsibilities of a roughneck. While working on one well in particular, the contractor ran out of money. Bob used his savings to purchase an interest in that well. The well proved to be very successful, and he parlayed that initial victory into even more productive wells, ultimately creating the Denver Producing & Refining Company.

Bob went on to own several refineries & gas stations. He also made a substantial amount of money purchasing minerals, most of which are located in Oklahoma. In addition to the purchase of minerals, he leased land and drilled oil wells in the Permian Basin of West Texas. This land continues to be extremely profitable and continues to produce oil to this day.

Bob married Florence Bunn and they did not have any children before he died in a plane crash in 1948. Soon after, in 1951, Florence passed away & a private foundation was established in memory of her husband, named the Robert Glenn Rapp Foundation.
